- What are the challenges facing (young) farmers today?
(There are several things! Be prepared to talk about them)
- What is the Common Agricultural Policy? What does it
do/encourage?
- The article discusses farming as a viable and necessary
economic sector for Spain. Do you think this is true? What scale of
farming is it referring to?
- How might this be different from the U.S. movement
(the United States: has a huge agricultural sector. Much of
this, however, is owned and run by 'big ag'--the enormous corporations who
produce corn, wheat, etc. In my opinion, small scale farmers are less an
attempt to bolster or diversify or economy, and more an attempt to provide
healthier, ethical food options)
- What is your general impression of farming? Do you
know young people who are considering it a career option? What would
young people have to learn, and what could they bring to the table in return?
